Educational, social and technological innovations for sustainable agricultural development and cooperativism in rural territories of the Ecuadorian and Brazilian Amazon

Context

The ICOOPEB project is co-funded by the European Commission and was selected in response to the ERASMUS+ Capacity Building call. It is coordinated at Le Mans University, at the ESO laboratory. It will last three years from February 15, 2023 to February 14, 2026.

It is entitled "Educational, social and technological innovations for sustainable agricultural development and cooperativism in the rural territories of Ecuadorian and Brazilian Amazonia".


The aim is to create several digital tools such as a collaborative map, educational videos, a knowledge exchange platform in order to exchange and teach cooperativism, agroecology and socio-ecological transition in Amazonian territories.

The project is an international cooperation between several partners:

Four European institutions: 

In France:
- Le Mans Université (coordinator)
- CIRAD

In Spain :
- Universidad de Alicante
- Universidad Miguel Hernandez

Three institutions in Brazil:
- Instituto Federal do Pará - Castanhal campus,
- Universidade Federal do Amapá
- Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia


Two institutions in Ecuador :
- Universidade Central del Ecuador
- UNIANDES


In total, we gathered a team with :
- 37 professors and researchers to teach in 12 Bachelor's degrees, 9 Master's degrees and 4 Doctoral degrees.
- 8 cooperatives and associations of small producers and Indigenous communities and another Ecuadorian university (IKIAM) are partners in the Amazon.
They will use the digital tools created and will participate in their design in order to share experiences conducted in Amazonian territories and serve their development.
