Educational, social and technological innovations for sustainable agricultural development and cooperativism in rural territories of the Ecuadorian and Brazilian Amazon

Expected results

The results of the ICOOPEB project will have several effects that are related to the objectives of the Capacity Building program, such as :

  • Modernization of the EESs of the partner countries in the Amazon region so that they appropriate innovative digital tools and participate in territorial development by training their students on issues of interest to cooperative enterprises, producers' associations, Amerindian communities, development organizations, etc.
  • Bringing teaching content closer to the realities of the populations of disadvantaged Amazonian regions with improved access for students from rural and Amerindian communities.
  • Contribution to the opening up of regions far from large urban university centers by providing digital tools to Amazonian campuses.
  • Regional integration through exchanges on teaching methods and content between universities working in the Amazon in two distant countries with different languages.
  • Strengthening links with the SSE private sector by teaching the activities, social and technical innovations and management of cooperatives in courses; and promoting student internships in these enterprises, which will improve their employability as cooperative managers or territorial development agents in local, regional and national governments.
  • Strengthening students' initiative through participatory tools such as the knowledge exchange platform and the participatory map, through internships in cooperatives.
  • Improvement of teachers' and students' skills on digital tools to which they will contribute on the contents and for some on the design.
  • Changes in teaching methods, appropriation of digital tools that will encourage the management of institutions to maintain and develop the tools and associated approaches.
  • Dissemination of the experimentation of innovative practices in other establishments than the partners working on these themes in Brazilian and Ecuadorian Amazonia, to whom we will communicate on the contents and the tools, and even to other Spanish-speaking countries of the Amazonian area (Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela).
  • Internationalization through exchanges between Ecuadorian and Brazilian institutions, generating new collaborative practices, with the creation of an international network that could lead to other joint projects.
